THE SAVIOUR
One day Nasreddin had a quarrel with his wife. Then he walked out to ease his mind. But he could not forget the quarrel entirely. While walking he was thinking about it. When he was walking a wooden bridge, he slipped and almost fell down. Fortunately, there was a man walking by him. He snatched Nasreddin’s right arm, and saved him from falling.
“Thanks a lot my brother, “ Nasreddin said.
”Without your help, I would have been drowned in the water.”
“Don’t mention it, Nasreddin. It’s our duty to help each other,” the man answered.
Three days later, Nasreddin met the man in the coffee house. He remainded Nasreddin of the time when he saved him from falling into the water. Then Nasreddin thanked him again. Finally the man asked him to pay for his coffe.Several days later, he met the man again at the market. Again he talked about the time when he saved Nasreddin. As usual, he asked Nasreddin to buy him some goods he needed. Nasreddin did it but not very willingly.
Again and again, everytime they met the man always reminded Nasreddin that he had saved him from falling into the water. Nasreddin felt uneasy and decided to and the man’s annoying behavior.
The next day Nasreddin met the man. As usual the man told him about how he saved him from falling into the water.
“Okey, follow me, Brother!” said Nasreddin. He pulled the man’s right hand.
“What do you want, Nasreddin?”
“Just follow me. I’ll pay back kindness evenly.”
Nasreddin asked the man to go to the bridge where he almost fell down.
“Why do you asked me to come here?” asked the man.
“See me!” said Nasreddin, jumping into the water.
The man laughed and said,”What are you doing Nasreddin? Are you crazy?”
Nasreddin shouted”Look, I’am raellywet now. I’am wet just like I would have been if you hadn’t halped me several weeks ago. Now go away! Don’t tell me the same old story again,”
